1950's Diner Banana Pudding Cake

This is made similarly to a vintage handwritten cake recipe, see picture below.

Ingredients
CAKE
2 ripe bananas 1 package Deluxe Duncan Hines Yellow Cake Mix 1 package Jell-O banana cream or vanilla instant pudding mix 4 eggs 1 cup water 1/4 cup oil 1 cup Nilla Wafers, broken
FILLING
1 box of Instant Banana Pudding
1 cup of milk
(Only use 1/2 milk of what your pudding box
directions suggest)
one ripe banana to slice over pudding mixture
FROSTING
1 & 1/2 cups of whipped cream
2/3 cup of powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
(Nilla Wafers for decoration - optional)
Method
Slice bananas in a large bowl. Beat until mashed, add remaining ingredients, except the Nilla wafers; blend then beat at medium speed for 3 minutes.
Fold in the one cup of broken Nilla Wafers.
Pour into two greased, floured cake pans. Bake at 350-degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cool in pan for at least 15 minutes, remove from pan.
Divide each cake into two so that you have four layers.
Spread banana pudding over the first cake layer.
Divide banana into 3 even parts
Slice banana into thin pieces and place them over pudding mixture.
Place another cake layer over pudding and banana slices. cover this layer with banana pudding and thinly sliced banana pieces.
Repeat for a third Time.

Now you have your four layers stacked.
Beat whipped cream until stiff peaks form. Mix in powdered sugar and vanilla.
Spread on top and sides of cake.
Now, you can decorate with Nilla Wafers.
